Vol. 517 No. 3

Written Answers. - Live Exports.

John Gormley

Question:

129 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the competent authority to which transporters submit the route plans required under Article 5(A)(2) of the Council Directive 91/628/EEC as amended by Council Directive 92/29/EC on the protection of animals during transport when animals are to be traded between member states or exported to third countries on journeys exceeding eight hours. [9844/00]

The competent authority concerned is the designated authority in the member state from which the animals are to be exported. In Ireland, this is the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development.
