The protection of children from abuse and neglect is a matter of major public concern and I am pleased to be in a position to inform the House that the preparation of a White Paper on Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse is at an advanced stage. I expect to be in a position to bring the White Paper to Government in May 2000.
