Vol. 517 No. 3

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Question:

254 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the Land Registry office will expedite a section 49 application for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact the delay will cause hardship; and if a way leave will be granted to expedite this transaction. [9587/00]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application refers to a section 49 application, that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 23 November 1999. I understand that, due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a precise completion date at this stage.
