285 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will look positively on an application by a club (details supplied) for funding to employ a national promotions director; if his attention has been drawn to the tremendous work this organisation is doing to provide alternative social, educational and sporting outlets for young people in its efforts to control teenage alcohol and drug abuse; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the application made by the organisation in question for additional funding to enable it to appoint a national promotions director to develop further its programme of support for young people. This request is being considered by my Department at present and a decision will be given in the matter as quickly as possible.
