Vol. 517 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Grant Scheme.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

299 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received an application from the parents council of Donore primary school, County Meath, to have a security fence erected around the school property and a burglar alarm and cameras installed to alleviate the serious problem with vandalism at the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9742/00]

The works in question would normally be dealt with through the minor grant scheme under which schools are given funds each year for this purpose. However, if the board demonstrates that these funds have been expended on other essential priority areas, my Department is prepared to consider an application from the school authorities for grant-aid.
