Based on data collected for the compilation of the Consumer Price Index, it is estimated that the price of a litre of petrol in February 2000, the latest month for which data are available, was 6.8% above the annual average for 1997, 12.1% above the annual average for 1998 and 9.8% above the annual average for 1999.
