Vol. 517 No. 3

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

89 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the proposals, if any, he has to provide funding for the proposed extension to the pier at Kells Bay, Kells, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9617/00]

The pier at Kells Bay is owned by Kerry County Council and its repair and mainten ance is the responsibility of the local authority in the first instance. Kells Bay is included on the list of piers and harbours projects in the county, submitted by the county council to my Department for funding support. The scope for funding works at Kells Bay and other additional projects in County Kerry will be kept under review by my Department in consultation with Kerry County Council in light of available resources in 2000 and forward years.
