Vol. 517 No. 5

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

57 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will make a special once-off financial allocation to Kerry County Council to upgrade the approach roads to Ballybunion, County Kerry, and the Tralee-Ballybunion road in preparation for the Irish Open Golf Championship; and if hewill make a statement on the matter. [10042/00]

Kerry County Council's non-national roads grant allocation for 2000 is £10.491 million which is a 7% increase on its 1999 allocation. It is a matter for Kerry County Council to prioritise the roads on which they spend this money.

There are no further funds at my disposal which would allow me to provide additional funds to the council over and above this allocation for 2000.

Since 1994 my Department has paid grants amounting to £1.248 million and £0.815 million, respectively, in respect of the Tralee-Ballybunion and Tarbert-Ballybunion roads.
