Vol. 517 No. 5

Written Answers. - Mileage Allowance.

Question:

89 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to provide a mileage allowance for officials who choose to cycle rather than use other means of transport for a work-related journey. [10254/00]

There is already in existence a mileage allowance for officials who use their private bicycles on official business. The current rate is 5p per mile. This allowance is paid in accordance with the normal Civil Service travel and subsistence regulations.
