Vol. 517 No. 5

Written Answers. - Civil Service Salaries.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

93 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Finance the reason a long service increment was withheld from a person (details supplied) in Dublin 14; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that his Department's guidelines regarding the payment of long service increments appear not to have been followed in this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10296/00]

I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, in accordance with Department of Finance circulars, a long service increment, as with any salary increment, is granted provided an officer's services are satisfactory. In the case in question the increment was withheld because the officer's services were unsatisfactory and this had previously been brought to his attention. The Revenue Commissioners are satisfied that the correct procedures have been adhered to in this case.
