Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

John Perry

Question:

197 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if he will appoint a person (details supplied) in County Sligo to a Civil Service position in Sligo in view of her domestic circumstances; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10471/00]

The person referred to was a candidate for appointment to the position of clerical officer confined to former civil servants. Responsibility for the holding of this competition is a matter for the Civil Service Commissioners. The situation is that it was specified in the advertisement for the competition and in the information given to candidates that vacancies were available primarily in the Dublin area. The person in question was assigned by the Civil Service Commission to the Office of the Revenue Commissioners in Dublin but refused the assignment. The Civil Service Commission are not in a position to offer an assignment to Sligo.
