Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Doctors.

Bernard Allen

Question:

225 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on the situation where consultant and junior doctors may refuse to accompany seriously ill patients in emergency transport due to the failure of his Department to provide adequate insurance for personnel involved in the emergency transport of patients. [10433/00]

I am not aware that any doctors are refusing to accompany patients on any form of transport. The insurance and other requirements for emergency transport are a matter for hospitals and health boards. As far as I am aware, these are satisfactory.
