229 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ask Comhairle na nOspidéal for an explanation for its refusal to sanction temporary psychiatric posts in the Eastern Regional Health Authority region for the second time and where only half of the 17 temporary posts applications before Comhairle were refused last August and remain outstanding. Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Martin):

The issue raised by the Deputy falls under the remit of Comhairle na nOspidéal which is the statutory body responsible for regulating the number and type of consultant medical staff. My Department has asked the chief officer of Comhairle na nOspidéal to reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
