279 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Health and Children the monetary value of any consultancies to a company (details supplied) for the period July 1997 to date; the exact assignment in respect of each fee paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10772/00]
The company referred to by the Deputy was not engaged directly by my Department from July 1997 to date and no direct payments have been made. However, an amount of £12,705, including VAT, was paid by my Department to Mercer Ltd, its insurance-actuarial advisers, in respect of Irish capital markets-economic expertise obtained from Bacon and Associates. The work related to the preparation of a report and provision of advices concerning options for the future corporate status of the VHI.
