Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Ivan Yates

Question:

285 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Health and Children if assistance will be provided by the South Eastern Health Board for travel arrangements for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who is a medical card holder and has to attend hospital on a regular basis as he suffers from cerebral palsy and his wheelchair will not fit into a car or bus; and if there is a specific budget within the health board for this purpose. [10871/00]

The consideration for payment of travelling expenses in this instance is the responsibility of the South Eastern Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
