Question:

310 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the number of asylum seekers resident in each of Dublin's postal districts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10946/00]

The information sought by the Deputy is not available in the format requested. At present there are 5,442 payments of basic supplementary welfare allowance (SWA) being made to asylum seekers in Dublin. These payments are in respect of 8,606 people. In addition unemployment assistance payments are being made to 847 asylum seekers in Dublin in respect of 1,120 people.

The following table shows the number of basic payments being made in each Dublin postal areas.
