Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Nora Owen

Question:

397 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction the building of two new classrooms for a school (detail supplied) in County Dublin in view of the fact that some children have to use the gym room as a classroom thus denying other children of a gym class and some children are accommodated in a room with no windows; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10473/00]

My Department's planning and building unit is assessing the future accommodation requirements of the school in question. When this examination has been completed, the matter will be progressed further.

Dan Neville

Question:

398 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Education and Science when additional accommodation will be provided for a school (details supplied) in County Limerick. [10474/00]

The school referred to by the Deputy has applied to my Department for additional accommodation. An assessment of the schools long-term needs has recently been completed and the project will be processed to the architectural planning stage as quickly as possible having regard to the substantial volume of work on hands in my Department at present.
