The managerial authorities of the school to which the Deputy refers were informed on 10 February 2000 to proceed to stage 5 – bill of quantities – of architectural planning for the proposed project at the school in question.

A stage 5 submission has not yet been received.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

419 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation regarding the building proposal for a school (details supplied) in Dublin 4, if the remedial work has been completed on the prefabs; if tenders have been sought; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10601/00]

Architectural planning for the rebuilding of the school to which the Deputy refers has commenced.

A meeting involving the design team, members of the school's managerial authorities and officials of my Department was recently held in my Department to discuss the stage 1, site suitability, submission. Arising from that meeting, the design team is now preparing a stage 2 – outline sketch scheme – report. At this early stage of architectural planning it is not possible to indicate when this project is likely to go to construction.

Repairs to the prefabs have been carried out.
