Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

John McGuinness

Question:

442 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department had received a submission dated 15 March 2000 from CBS primary school, Stephen Street, Kilkenny, regarding the urgent need for remedial works at the school due to dampness and crumbling plasterwork; and if he will arrange an immediate inspection of the school with a view to outlining the works required and agreeing the date to commence work. [10883/00]

I can confirm that my Department has received an application from the management authorities of the Christian Brothers primary school for grant-aid towards improvement works to the school. The Deputy will appreciate, however, that my Department has a large number of school building projects on hand at present. Within this constraint, I can assure the Deputy that the application from the school in question is being dealt with as quickly as possible.
