Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Aer Rianta Group.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

146 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has recommended to the Government a final decision in relation to the break up of Aer Rianta; if she will report on the implications for the workers in Dublin, Cork and Shannon; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10692/00]

As the Deputy is aware, I submitted the Warburg Dillon Read-AIB report on the strategic options for the future of Aer Rianta to my Cabinet colleagues at the Government meeting on 1 February and also made it publicly available. I have met and consulted with staff and union representatives of the airports to hear their views and concerns regarding the future of the Aer Rianta Group.

I am continuing to give consideration to the findings and recommendations contained in the report with a view to formulating specific proposals for consideration by Government. No decisions on possible alternative ownership arrangements for the State airports will be taken in advance of the Government's consideration of these issues.
