179 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of students from this country attending third-level institutions in Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom. [10989/00]

The numbers of full-time higher education students from the Republic of Ireland studying in institutes of further or higher education in Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom in 1998-99, the latest date for which data are available, are as follows: United Kingdom – 13,250; of which in Northern Ireland – 3,200.
