Vol. 518 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Correspondence.

Seán Haughey

Question:

160 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has satisfied himself that parliamentary questions and letters from Deputies referred by him for reply to the Eastern Regional Health Authority can and will be responded to by the authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11418/00]

In formalising arrangements for the establishment of the Eastern Regional Health Authority on 1 March this year my Department put in place a protocol regarding the handling of parliamentary questions and representations. The new authority has confirmed that these arrangements are in place and that staff have been allocated to deal with the work in question. I am satisfied that the management of the new authority are quite clear about these arrangements and that they are in a position to respond as required.
