179 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children if a directive has been issued to the Southern Health Board and all health boards that home helps be paid the minimum wage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11628/00]

My Department's letter of determination, which was issued in December 1999, formally notified each health board of the additional funding being made available in 2000 to provide for the implementation of the rate of £4.40 per hour for home helps with effect from 1 April 2000.
