I propose to take Questions Nos. 270, 272 and 273 together.

The sports capital programme for 2000 was advertised in early December 1999 with a closing date of 11 February 2000 for receipt of completed applications. In excess of 1,600 applications were received.

All applications for financial assistance under the programme will be evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria which are outlined in the guidelines which accompanied the application form. In the assessment process, the Department will consult, as appropriate, with national governing bodies of sport to ascertain their priorities. Given the large number of applications received and the level of work involved in assessing them, I do not expect to be in a position to make the final announcements on the 2000 round of allocations until June next.
