Vol. 518 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

58 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the proposed total expenditure in respect of sporting and recreational amenities and facilities from the proceeds of the national lottery or other sources in 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11502/00]

The provision in the revised Estimates for 2000 for my Department for the expenditure on sporting and recreational amenities and facilities from the proceeds of the national lottery and other sources is £41.07 million. This is made up as follows:

Sports Capital Programme Grants (National Lottery funded)

£15.2m

Croke Park Development Grant (National Lottery funded)

£6m

Grant for 50 Metre Swimming Pool (Exchequer funded)

£4.69m

Grants for the Provision and Renovation of Swimming Pools (Exchequer funded)

£15.18m

This figure, when compared to the 1999 provision of £30,250 million in respect of the same areas of expenditure, represents an increase of 27%.
