Vol. 518 No. 3

Written Answers. - Railway Stations.

Ivan Yates

Question:

103 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the locations for the four new suburban rail stations promised in the national development plan; the timescale for the construction of these stations; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11410/00]

The national development plan includes provision for new stations at Intel, Lucan north and south and improvements at Ashington station. However, the strategic rail study which has just been completed addresses the longer term development of the suburban rail network including the potential to provide up to 11 new stations. This study is now being examined with a view to identifying priority projects including suburban rail stations. At this time, my expectation is that Lucan south and Intel will be the first stations to be completed. Their planning and construction will take about three years.
