The directorate for asylum support services, which was established in November 1999 under the aegis of my Department is responsible, inter alia, for meeting the accommodation needs of asylum seekers. The directorate has entered into contracts with the proprietors of the following properties for the provision of full board accommodation to asylum seekers. The contracts are for a period of 12 months, in general. Contracts for a two year period are in place for the properties at 88 Pembroke Road and Viking Lodge.
Where a contract was not signed with the proprietor in advance of the property being used as accommodation for asylum seekers, the proprietor was paid an agreed rate for a specific period.
Four properties, indicated with an asterisk, have not signed a contract with the directorate. In these cases an agreement has been entered into with the directorate on a month to month basis.
