172 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will establish a diabetes registry to monitor incidences of the disease in view of a recent study carried out on type one diabetes in children and adolescents. [13876/00]
I am aware of the study to which the Deputy refers. However, I am currently awaiting the report of the task force which was established in response to the St. Vincent Declaration to examine a range of issues relating to diabetes mellitus in Ireland. I am advised that this report is to be submitted in the near future and its recommendations will form the basis for an overall policy on this important public health issue.
