Vol. 519 No. 3

Written Answers - Services for People with Disabilities.

Joe Higgins

Question:

208 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will make a long-term commitment for the funding of Vantastic, which is the only viable source of transport for people with disabilities. [13817/00]

I am pleased to advise the Deputy that £350,000 is being provided by my Department this year for 'Vantastic'. This is a special provision announced in the context of the 2000 Budget Statement. There are no plans at this time for making a commitment to funding for Vantastic other than that already allocated. I wish also to inform the Deputy that Vantastic was incorporated as a limited company as recently as 14 March 2000.
