Vol. 519 No. 3

Written Answers - Naturalisation Applications.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

210 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when he will reconsider the applications for naturalisation and citizenship in the case of persons (details supplied) in County Kildare; the likely time frame in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13788/00]

In my reply to the Deputy's earlier question, No. 182 of Thursday, 17 February 2000, I advised him that I did not consider that the cases referred to warranted reconsideration in the short-term.

This remains my position on the matter. It is, however, open to these persons to apply again for naturalisation should they feel that at some future date they comply more fully with the statutory requirements for naturalisation as set out in the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1956, as amended in 1986.
