Vol. 519 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Websites.

Question:

111 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the guide lines in place for regulating the type of material placed on her departmental websites; the further guidelines to regulate the links included on the website; and if the guidelines in this regard include party political or commercial material. [14022/00]

Recommended guidelines for public sector organisations websites were prepared on foot of a recommendation in the action plan on the information society and were published late last year. The guidelines set out recommendations on such areas as the content, design and presentation, accessibility and bilingualism of websites. In addition, the guidelines make recommendations in relation to the provision of links to other websites. It is my intention that as far as possible the three websites which are managed by my Department will comply with the recommendations in the guidelines. Party political or commercial material is not included on any of my Department's websites.
