Vol. 519 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Richard Bruton

Question:

123 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the motion carried at the Teachers Union of Ireland conference in relation to ring-fencing permanent wholetime teaching posts for certain post holders who were eligible to apply under the terms of the Programme for Competitiveness and Work; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13951/00]

I am aware of the motion referred to by the Deputy.

Motions of this nature passed at teachers' congresses are generally raised by the union concerned through the normal industrial relations process for teachers. My Department will deal with this issue through that process.
