My Department views its website as a very important source of communicating information and encouraging comments from outside. We have a policy of putting up on our website all reports, etc. issued by the Department in addition to helpful information.
We are working on redesigning the website so that we can introduce more interactive services and provide more services electronically in addition to encouraging more on-line debate of issues.
The Department conforms with Department of Finance recommendations regarding publishing material on the Department's website. All material that is not classified is published on the website.

All material on the Department's website is processed in accordance with Department of Finance web publications guidelines published in November 1999. Departmental publications and other materials supplied by the departmental press office are available on the website which is hosted on the Irish Government website– www.irlgov.ie. The only current Department of Defence link is to the Irish Defence Forces site – www.military.ie. This Department does not publish party political or commercial material.
