Between 1989 and 1999, total receipts in respect of the TB and brucellosis eradication schemes amounted to some £258.4 million resulting in a net cost to the Exchequer of approximately £230.3 million.
The receipts figure comprises some £240 million from the bovine diseases levies regime and £18.4 million in EU contributions.
It is not possible to give an accurate breakdown of the specific expenditure figures between TB and brucellosis due to the fact that the majority of tests occur simultaneously at an inclusive cost.
