101 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the guidelines in place for regulating the type of material placed on his departmental websites; the further guidelines to regulate the links included on the website; and if the guidelines in this regard include party political or commercial material. Recommended guidelines on web publication for public sector organisations were launched by the Taoiseach in November 1999 and are available on the Department of the Taoiseach's website. My Department is represented on a network of webmasters which, inter alia, aims to implement the guidelines across the public sector, including Government Departments.
My Department's website, the design of which largely predates the issue of the guidelines, is an information resource on the works and policies of my Department. Only material of this nature, plus links to other websites that have relevance to the activities of my Department, is published on it. No links to party political or commercial sites are contained in my Department's website.
