Vol. 519 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Bernard Allen

Question:

126 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the long delay in having the Office of Public Works carry out a technical assessment of the playground at a school (details supplied) in Cork; the date on which the request was received from the Department of Education and Science; and if he will ensure that the inspection is carried out without further delay in view of the unsafe nature of the playground at the school. [14604/00]

The request to carry out a technical assessment of the playground in question was received from the Department of Education and Science in October 1999 and the survey was completed by the Commissioners of Public Works in December 1999. Plans and specification for the work will be completed so that the works can be undertaken, at the request of the school authorities, during the school summer holidays.
