Vol. 519 No. 6

Written Answers. - Voluntary Euthanasia.

Bernard Allen

Question:

171 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the position paper by the ethics working group of the Irish Association for Palliative Care, which recommended that there should be no change in the law to permit euthanasia. [14699/00]

I am aware that a position paper by the Irish Association for Palliative Care on voluntary euthanasia has recently been published. The views expressed by the ethics working group have been noted and it is not proposed to make any change in the law in order to permit euthanasia.
