Vol. 519 No. 6

Written Answers. - Competition Authority.

Liam Aylward

Question:

102 Mr. Aylward asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if, further to parliamentary Question No. 117 of 17 May 2000, she will have arrangements made to have the case in question re-investigated by the Competition Authority immediately. [14612/00]

The Competition authority is independent in the exercise of its statutory functions and, accordingly, it would not be appropriate for me to issue any direction to the authority regarding the investigation of a particular complaint. However, I have drawn the Deputy's concerns in this matter to the attention of the new chairman of the authority.
