I propose to take Questions Nos. 110 and 111 together.
The national development plan sets out a strategic framework for the development of physical infrastructure, including roads, public transport, water services, housing and health, over the period 2000 to 2006. This framework will be further elaborated in the economic and social infrastructure operational programme that is at present being drawn up under the plan.
The programming of work under the plan along with the planning, design and implementation of individual infrastructural projects is the responsibility of various implementing agencies. These include Departments, local authorities, the National Roads Authority, in relation to national roads, and other public bodies. This detailed work is now well under way and every effort is being made to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of improved infrastructure throughout the country, including the implementation of the roads development programme provided for in the NDP. High level support for this process is being provided by the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructural Development.
