Vol. 519 No. 7

Written Answers. - Beef Exports.

Denis Naughten

Question:

78 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a company (details supplied) in County Roscommon, which has been passed for a full export licence, will receive this licence; when vets and agricultural officers will be appointed to the plant to oversee slaughtering; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14821/00]

An inspection was carried out on the premises in question on 2 May to establish the suitability of the plant for approval as an EU export plant. The findings of this inspection are being considered at present by my Department. If the plant in question is deemed to have reached the appropriate standard, the provision of inspection staff from my Department will then be considered. The provision of such staff is of course, subject to availability at the time.
