161 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will make grant aid available to Cork County Council to upgrade Fota Road in Cobh, County Cork in view of the fact that the Murphys Irish Open is due to take place there in 2001 which will result in large numbers of people visiting the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to the reply to Question No. 136 of 1 March 2000.

It is open to Cork County Council to seek funding for this project when applications for 2001 under the specific improvement grants scheme are sought later this year.

There are no funds at my disposal at present which would allow the provision of additional funds to the council over and above what has been allocated for 2000.
