Andrew Boylan

Question:

220 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the serious situation which exists at Swanlinbar national school where the remedial teacher has to use the teachers' office as a classroom; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that there is no place for extra activities such as art, or play facilities when the weather is inclement; and if he can now confirm the measures he is taking to alleviate this situation. [15789/00]

My Department has received an application from the management authorities of Swanlinbar national school for grant aid towards improvement works to the school.

The long-term accommodation requirements of the school in question are being assessed by my Department and when this process has been completed, the matter will be progressed further.
