Richard Bruton

Question:

254 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the terms of reference of the facilitator who was recently appointed to mediate in the problems that have arisen as a result of the restructuring of the architectural technician course in Limerick Institute of Technology; if the facilitator will look at the professional recognition of the courses of study which students are undertaking; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16038/00]

The following are the terms of reference for the recently appointed facilitator who is examining the difficulties surrounding the architectural technology course at Limerick Institute of Technology:

The facilitator will consult with relevant interests, identify the concerns of those involved, establish the facts, identify options for a resolution which will ensure that the students complete their course leading to an award and facilitate the resolution of the problem.

Within his terms of reference the facilitator will have regard to issues raised by the relevant interests.
