44 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the progress being made by the sub-committee overseeing the relocation of the Marine Institute to Galway; the discussions there have been with staff or their union representatives; the estimated cost of the relocation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16679/00]

The sub-committee on the Marine Institute overseeing the relocation has met four times and an agreement on how the Department, union and staff will approach the process and issues associated with the relocation of the Marine Institute has been drafted.

Through this sub-committee and the local partnership committee there has been continuous discussions with union representatives on the subject of the relocation of the Marine Institute.

The cost of relocating the Marine Institute has been estimated at £10 million.
