Vol. 521 No. 2

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

61 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the proposals, if any, he has to decentralise part of his Department to the Waterford constituency; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16627/00]

A consultation process is under way among Departments with a view to taking a decision on a significant programme of decentralisation. It is anticipated that no decisions will be taken on the new programme in relation either to the Departments or offices to be relocated or to the centres to which they will be relocated before the conclusion of this consultative process.

In advance of the conclusion of this process, it would be premature of me to comment on the likelihood of this Department, or any location, being chosen.
