Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

99 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a review of the penalties imposed on a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be completed in view of the fact that the medical certificate was submitted several weeks ago; and if additional payment can issue to the herd owner for 1999 cattle headage and premia. [16891/00]

Penalties have been waived in this case, and additional payments of £102 under the 1999 cattle headage scheme, £841.13 under the 1999 suckler cow premium scheme and £179.10 under the 1999 extensification scheme will be made to the person named in the next two weeks.

Question:

100 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will lift or reduce the penalty of 14% imposed to the headage payment of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo as this penalty is causing severe financial hardship. [16892/00]

The surname of the person named does not correspond with the herd number given.

However, the owner of the herd number referred to submitted his area aid application after the 23 April 1999 closing date. The application was received on 14 May 1999. Under EU regulations, penalties apply to late applications. The penalty applicable in this case is 14% reduction on any aid payable.

Question:

101 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when an appeal of a penalty by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be decided. [16893/00]

The person named has now supplied a copy of the original amendment form which he submitted requesting that the parcel be deleted from his 1999 area aid application form. This amendment has been accepted and his area aid application has been finalised accordingly, without penalty.
