Vol. 521 No. 4

Written Answers. - Project Funding.

Beverley Flynn

Question:

222 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if there is funding available from her Department for a particular project (details supplied) which is based in County Mayo. [17101/00]

I understand from Údarás na Gaeltachta that sponsorship as follows was given to the club in question – £350, £350 and £500.

An application for a feasibility study grant in relation to the establishment of a "Yawl" ("Yawl" being a traditional local boat-type) centre is being examined in the interest of developing cultural tourism in the area. Assistance towards acquiring boats will not be available from an tÚdarás.

My Department may be in a position to consider an application for capital under the Gaeltacht improvement schemes – Scéimeanna Feabhsúcháin sa Ghaeltacht. This would assume that the organisation concerned satisfies the eligibility criteria of this scheme.

With regard to sponsorship for the club for 2000, an application which was received by my Department has been forwarded to an Údarás for consideration.
