Vol. 521 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Bernard Allen

Question:

132 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have investigations made into the reason a person (details supplied) in County Offaly is awaiting a hip operation in Tullamore Hospital for over a year, despite the fact that he is 80 years of age and is in severe pain. [17735/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Offaly is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board in the first instance. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
