125 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if, in view of the fact that the application for a grant under the sports capital programme submitted by the Loreto Bray Community Sports Project has been adjusted to reduce considerably the initial and overall grant requirements, he will indicate his support for this project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Following an advertisement process in excess of 1,600 applications were received under the 2000 sports capital programme.
An application for funding under the programme has been received from the organisation in question. This application, together with all other applications, is being evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria which are outlined in the guidelines which accompanied the application form. I intend to announce the grant allocations at the earliest possible date following completion of this assessment process.
The Deputy will appreciate that until all applications received have been evaluated and the process completed, it would not be possible to anticipate the outcome in relation to any particular applicant.
