Vol. 521 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Richard Bruton

Question:

131 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will have arrangements made for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin with a special need to receive a travel pass in view of the difficult financial circumstances of the family. [17835/00]

The position generally is that transport provision may only be made for pupils with special needs who attend their nearest appropriate school.

A report in the matter indicates that the pupil referred to by the Deputy does not attend her nearest such school. In the circumstances, I regret that my Department is not in a position to facilitate this pupil.
